Fans for coating equipment are typically selected with lower motor speeds, resulting in higher motor output and increased power consumption. In situations where ventilation systems are used frequently—particularly where the purpose is not fire suppression or smoke extraction—fans designed for coating equipment should be utilised. The use of high-temperature axial fans is more economical and practical. In applications requiring a combination of high airflow and high pressure, centrifugal fans offer more advantages than axial fans, primarily in terms of output and noise levels. The distinction between paint shop fans and axial flow fans lies in the fact that paint shop fans alter the direction of airflow within the ductwork, whereas axial flow fans do not. The former offers higher airflow and pressure, whilst the latter provides lower airflow and pressure. In the former, the motor and fan are typically connected by a shaft, whereas in the latter, the motor is usually housed within the fan unit. The former are typically installed in air conditioning units, boiler blowers, and at the inlets and outlets of induction draft fans, whilst the latter are usually situated at the ends of ducts or at the front of duct outlets. Fans for painting equipment utilise different impeller designs. The primary distinction lies in the shape of the impeller. Centrifugal fans rely on the centrifugal force generated by the rotating impeller, whereas axial fans utilise axial thrust. Mixed-flow fans are positioned between these two types. Fans are used for high flow rates and low static pressure. Centrifugal fans are used for low flow rates and high static pressure, whilst mixed-flow fans are used for long-range flow. The performance of mixed-flow fans lies between the two. In industry, certain machines are prone to damage during operation; for example, fans for painting equipment are also susceptible to damage during use, so they generally require maintenance. Through regular maintenance and repairs, the service life of these fans can be extended.
