Enclosed centrifugal exhaust fans perform exceptionally well in practical applications and are used in a variety of fields, including ventilation, dust removal, and cooling. To maintain the high performance output of these fans, the performance requirements for the fan motor are very strict. 1. The design basis for the motor’s rated output must be at least 120% of the equipment’s requirements. When the motor operates at full load, it must be able to withstand a 5% variation in frequency and a 10% variation in voltage without damage and while maintaining normal operation. 2. Under rated voltage conditions, the motor current must be maintained within the specified range during startup. When using polyphase motors in box-type centrifugal exhaust fan units, the phase sequence must be marked on the junction box nameplate, and the direction of rotation must be indicated with an arrow. 3. Depending on the specific application, box-type centrifugal exhaust fan units may use different types of motors, such as AC induction motors, AC permanent magnet synchronous motors, or AC brushless motors. The motor insulation class must meet Class F, the temperature rise must meet Class B, and the protection rating must be IP54. The trend toward higher efficiency in China’s box-type centrifugal exhaust fan market is irreversible, requiring more efficient and stable motors for these units. The development of permanent magnet synchronous motors and automatic-start permanent magnet motors for box-type centrifugal exhaust fans is essential. Both types of motors have their own advantages and must be selected based on specific application requirements. Permanent magnet synchronous motors for wind turbines offer the advantages of high efficiency, high power, speed regulation, protection, and on-site remote control. Automatic-start permanent magnet motors for box-type centrifugal exhaust fans meet IE4 energy efficiency standards, offer comparable power output, and provide performance advantages in applications requiring constant-speed operation of box-type centrifugal exhaust fans.
