Key Parameters to Consider for Centrifugal Cabinet-Type Fans

Key Parameters to Consider for Centrifugal Cabinet-Type Fans首图4What should you look for when purchasing industrial centrifugal cabinet-type fans? Applications for dust extraction fans include: industry, laboratories, metallurgical equipment, and other sectors. When purchasing industrial dust extraction fans, since their performance can be assessed based on airflow and pressure, be sure to consult the fan manufacturer regarding the airflow and pressure specifications for your specific application. In fact, airflow primarily depends on the air intake efficiency of the blades. Today, a centrifugal cabinet-type fan manufacturer will explain the concepts of airflow and pressure for industrial dust extraction fans! Concepts of Airflow and Pressure in Centrifugal Cabinet Fans: Airflow actually refers to the product of the fan’s air exchange area and its face velocity. The air exchange area is calculated by subtracting the projected area of the vortex tongue from the outlet area, while face velocity is the speed at which the airflow moves. Given a constant face velocity, the larger the air exchange area—that is, the larger the outer diameter of the centrifugal cabinet fan’s impeller—the greater the airflow. The greater the airflow, the greater the heat absorption by the air, and the more pronounced the cooling effect of the fan becomes. Air pressure is the resistance that a centrifugal cabinet fan must overcome to achieve normal airflow. Generally, the measured pressure value is referred to as static pressure. Static pressure refers to the pressure exerted by gas parallel to a surface and is primarily measured through an orifice perpendicular to that surface. Selection Criteria for Centrifugal Cabinet Fan Air Pressure: 1. Based on the requirements of the dust collection point, the airflow rate must be maintained between 10 and 20. 2. The air pressure for industrial dust collection is equal to the negative pressure of the dust collection hood plus the pressure loss in the ductwork plus the pressure loss in the dust collector; add a safety margin of 10–15 to the calculated air pressure. 3. The parameters in the technical specifications table for industrial dust collection fans are based on standard temperature and pressure conditions; actual selection requires adjustment to match the operating conditions. In practical applications, centrifugal cabinet-type fans have a high airflow rate but relatively low air exchange capacity. Additionally, it is important to consider airflow and any obstructions encountered within the ductwork. Therefore, as the airflow increases, the static pressure decreases. In some cases, to reduce system resistance, even a smaller-sized centrifugal cabinet-type fan can achieve the same airflow rate. Therefore, when purchasing industrial dust collection equipment, it is necessary to consult with professional technical personnel.
