Introduction to Axial Flow Fans

Axial flow fans, commonly referred to as axial fans, are a type of fan frequently used in industrial and mining enterprises. Unlike conventional fans, both the motor and impeller are housed within a single cylindrical casing, giving it a tubular shape. These fans are designed for localized ventilation. They offer easy installation, provide significant ventilation and air exchange effects, and are safe to operate. They can be connected to ducting to direct airflow to specific areas.

Axial flow fans have a wide range of applications, characterized by airflow moving parallel to the fan blade axis. They are termed "axial flow" because the gas flows parallel to the fan shaft. Axial flow fans are typically used in scenarios requiring high airflow volume but low pressure. These fans remain stationary while moving air. Primarily composed of an impeller and housing, axial flow fans feature a simple structure but demand highly precise specifications.

Axial Flow Fans: Applications and Features

Axial flow fans are suitable for ventilation and air exchange or enhanced heat dissipation in metallurgical, chemical, light industrial, food processing, pharmaceutical equipment, mechanical equipment, and civil construction settings. They can also be installed in series at intervals within extended exhaust ducts to increase air pressure within the ductwork.

Axial Flow Fan Features:

  1. Small axial flow fans: Low power consumption, rapid heat dissipation, energy-efficient and environmentally friendly. Their compact size enables versatile applications. 2. Large axial flow fans feature simple structure, robust reliability, high airflow capacity, and extensive functional options.

 BYT Series Axial Flow Fans

When discussing premium axial flow fans, the BYT series stands out. This series represents a new generation of axial flow fan products.

  1. This unit features an optimized aerodynamic design and advanced manufacturing techniques, resulting in a robust, safe, and practical overall structure. It incorporates an adjustable aluminum alloy impeller and a high-temperature baked paint finish that resists fading.

  2.  2. At the same installation position, it achieves bidirectional ventilation (forward and reverse). The blade angle can be adjusted according to airflow requirements. Compared to the previous generation of Xinfeng fans, air volume increases by 42%, air pressure increases by 30%, and total pressure efficiency reaches up to 82.3%. All data is sourced from the Xinfeng Fan Performance Laboratory.

  3.    3. BYT series axial flow fans feature 6 to 14 blades per unit based on impeller diameter, with blade installation angles ranging from 15 to 35 degrees.

  4.    4. Equipped with high-temperature resistant motors and housings finished with high-temperature baked paint, these fans operate reliably in elevated environments. Impellers are constructed from low-magnesium aluminum alloy for explosion-proof performance.

Installation Methods and Commissioning Procedures    1. Preparatory Work     Inspect all fan components upon unpacking to ensure completeness. Check the exterior casing for any impact damage, paying particular attention to whether the head rectifier is damaged or deformed. Verify that all component connections are secure, that the blades and motor show no damage, and that the impeller rotates freely. Address any issues through repair or adjustment. Inspect the fan's installation foundation. It must possess sufficient strength and rigidity to withstand operational loads. Simultaneously verify that the foundation's connection dimensions to the fan comply with design specifications.

2. Installation Considerations

① For horizontal floor-mounted fans, secure the vibration dampers to the fan base using connecting bolts. Adjust the horizontal level of each damper with center height shims. Fasten the fan to the connecting steel plate welded onto the foundation using fixing bolts. If vibration dampers are unnecessary due to seismic resistance or other reasons, directly connect the threaded holes on the fan base to the embedded bolts in the foundation.

② Sidewall Horizontal Installation: Basic requirements mirror floor-mounted installation, except the mounting bracket must be designed as an inclined-arm support structure with sufficient strength and rigidity. Fans larger than size 10 are not recommended for this installation method.

③. Suspended Installation: First bolt the vibration dampers to the fan to form an integrated unit. Install the dampers symmetrically on both sides of the fan's center of gravity. Lift the fan and insert it directly into the suspension bracket. The height of the suspension bracket is determined by the user based on actual space constraints. Fans larger than size 16 generally do not use this installation method.

④ Vertical Installation The vertical installation method follows the same principles as horizontal ground installation but imposes stricter requirements on the strength and rigidity of the fan foundation.

3. Commissioning Procedures

① After installing the axial fan, check its rotational flexibility before startup. Manually rotate the blades to ensure no binding or friction occurs. Inspect the fan and adjacent ductwork for any residual objects or debris.

② Verify that all dampers within the ductwork are fully open.

③ Personnel must remain clear of the fan.

④ Start the fan and verify the blade rotation direction matches the rotation indicator markings. After passing inspection, conduct a 10-30 minute trial run before stopping. Check for loose blades and ensure the vibration damping mounts and foundation connection bolts are secure. Only proceed with formal startup and operation once all conditions are confirmed normal.
