Fume cupboard centrifugal fans are excellent pieces of equipment, but unexpected issues may arise during operation. One common problem is excessive temperature in the fume cupboard centrifugal fan, which affects normal use. So, why does this problem occur? To resolve it, we will help you identify the causes. Of course, abnormal temperatures in fume cupboard centrifugal fans are not necessarily caused by a single factor. However, the main reasons can be summarised into two categories. Let us now examine the specifics. One possible reason is excessive motor current in the fume cupboard centrifugal fan. When the centrifugal fan is operating, a normal supply voltage is required to ensure proper functioning; however, several factors can cause the motor current to rise. For example, this may be due to severe vibration in the bearing housing; the inlet and outlet dampers failing to close in time when the fume cupboard centrifugal fan is started; the shaft speed being too high and exceeding the specified limit; or the input voltage being too low, causing a power cut to the motor. As a result of these issues, the motor current increases and the machine’s temperature rises. The second reason is that the temperature of the fume cupboard centrifugal fan’s bearings rises excessively. This may be caused by the tightening torque of the connecting bolts between the bearings being too high or too low, or by severe vibration issues in the bearing housing of the fume cupboard centrifugal fan. Thirdly, the rolling bearings of the fume cupboard centrifugal fan are damaged. Fourthly, the cause is insufficient lubrication or the presence of excessive impurities. In other words, upon discovering that a fume cupboard centrifugal fan is experiencing a rise in temperature, one can refer to the above reasons to identify the cause of the problem more quickly and take appropriate countermeasures.
