4. Fan vibration. Ask yourself: Is the fan impeller properly balanced? Are the motor and pulley balanced? Is the key length correct? Is there friction in the fan shaft seal? Does the motor have the correct bearings? If the fan foundation is inadequate, are the isolators properly sized and leveled? Are the shims installed correctly? are the anchor bolts the correct size, undamaged, and installed at all anchor points; is the ductwork twisted or rubbing? Check the bearings: Have they been upgraded for higher load capacity? Are you using the correct type and amount of grease? Can a bearing rotate freely? Finally, check for changes in the system, such as higher or lower pressure. Have expansion joints or dampers failed? What are the ductwork loads?
