The noise generated by high-temperature centrifugal fans during operation is typically caused primarily by friction and resistance between the airflow and the surrounding environment. In other words, if the circumferential speed of the fan’s impeller is too high, the noise generated by the ambient air becomes more pronounced, and the proportion of noise attributable to the impeller increases. Excessive noise from high-temperature centrifugal fans can have significant negative impacts. Therefore, we must take measures to address this issue. How can we reduce the noise of high-temperature centrifugal fans while maintaining constant air pressure and airflow? First, we must pay attention to the speed and direction of the airflow. For example, we can make the changes at the outlet of the high-temperature centrifugal fan as pronounced as possible. Of course, selecting the appropriate high-temperature centrifugal fan is also a very important consideration. This must be evaluated in conjunction with our actual usage requirements. Additionally, we can opt for a direct-drive configuration where the high-temperature centrifugal fan is connected directly to the motor, thereby effectively reducing noise. If an indirect-drive configuration is used, a gap-free V-belt must be employed for the connection. Furthermore, designing the inlet and outlet of the high-temperature centrifugal fan to be straight and avoiding sharp bends is a highly effective method. This approach also helps reduce noise generated by circulating air at the fan’s inlets and outlets. Of course, sound-absorbing materials can also be used to lower noise levels. However, during actual operation of high-temperature centrifugal fans, various factors make it impossible to directly reduce noise from a theoretical standpoint. Therefore, in many cases, silencers and sound-absorbing materials must be employed to mitigate the noise produced by high-temperature centrifugal fans.
