How to Commission a Multi-Blade Low-Noise Centrifugal Fan

To commission a multi-blade low-noise centrifugal fan, the following steps must be followed. 1.1. A multi-blade low-noise centrifugal fan can be started using full-voltage or reduced-voltage drive; however, please note that the current during full-voltage startup is approximately 5 to 7 times the rated current, and the starting torque during reduced-voltage startup is proportional to the square of the voltage. When grid capacity is insufficient, a step-start method must be used.2.2. During commissioning, carefully review the product manual to verify that the wiring method matches the wiring diagram. Carefully confirm that the operating voltage supplied to the multi-blade low-noise centrifugal fan meets requirements, that the power supply is in phase, and that the capacity of the distribution unit meets requirements. 3.3. During trial operation, have at least two people present: one to control the power supply and the other to observe the fan’s operation. If any abnormalities are detected, stop immediately to investigate. First, verify that the rotation direction is correct. Once the centrifugal fan begins operation, check whether the operating currents of each phase are balanced and whether they exceed the rated current. If an abnormality occurs, stop after 5 minutes to verify if the issue persists. Only restart after confirming there are no abnormalities. 4.4. During commissioning, start at low speed to verify the rotation direction is correct. When starting at high speed, wait until the multi-blade low-noise centrifugal fan has come to a complete stop before restarting. If the switch is triggered, the motor may be damaged. 5.5. After the multi-blade low-noise centrifugal fan reaches normal speed, measure the fan’s input current to ensure it is within normal limits. The operating current of the multi-blade low-noise centrifugal fan must not exceed the rated current. If the operating current exceeds the rated current, verify that the supply voltage is normal. 6.6. When the multi-blade low-noise centrifugal fan is used with a plenum box, power consumption will be higher if the inlet is fully open. Operating with the inlet fully open may damage the motor. During trial operation, close the inlet valve or the outlet duct of the multi-blade low-noise centrifugal fan. Then, slowly open the valve until the required operating conditions are met, while monitoring whether the operating current of the multi-blade low-noise centrifugal fan exceeds the rated current.
