Discussion by Fan Manufacturer on Several Causes of Noise Generation in Cabinet Centrifugal Fans

DZ350

Noise emitted by cabinet centrifugal fans generally originates from external factors and internal mechanical defects. Three common causes of fan noise are analyzed as follows:
  1. Resonance between the fan and window frame caused by overly close installation distance
If the cabinet centrifugal fan is mounted too near a window frame, resonance will occur between the unit and the window frame during operation.
For troubleshooting: appropriately reduce filler material between the fan and window frame, and replace it with softer cushioning materials. If the fan base is unstable, add cushion pads underneath to improve overall mounting stability.
  2. Improper fan installation leading to suspended placement
Incorrect installation may leave the cabinet centrifugal fan suspended off its base. Care must be taken not to over-compress the springs matched with anchor bolts.
Maintenance personnel shall shut down the fan and readjust the installation posture to rectify this fault.
  3. Over-tightened anti-vibration pads or fixing bolts on the fan base
Excessively tightened anti-vibration pads or fastening screws on the fan base will invalidate vibration isolation performance, resulting in obvious vibration and noise during operation.
In this case, readjust the tightening torque of screws matching the wedge pads on the fan base to ensure flat contact between the base and mounting surface.
