Methods for Inspecting Fan Blades Before Using Explosion-Proof Centrifugal Fans

Ensuring that all components meet the required standards is fundamental to the safe operation of explosion-proof centrifugal fans. If certain components do not meet these standards, safe operation cannot be guaranteed. In particular, the integrity of the fan assembly is critical. Before using the fan, the suitability of each component must be verified to ensure the fan is in optimal operating condition. The following methods for inspecting the blades are provided to ensure that each component functions properly. Visual inspection is the method used by most users and is also the most common approach. While this method is simple, it does not fully assess the condition of the fan; therefore, alternative inspection methods are provided. Apply a luminescent agent to the blades and wipe them clean. Move the rotor or use a magnifying glass to inspect it in a dark room. If there are cracks, the luminescent agent will not be wiped away and will glow. This method is relatively simple. In magnetic particle inspection, a wire is wound around the rotor or stator of the explosion-proof centrifugal fan, and a direct current is applied to generate a magnetic field in the stator or rotor. The upper surfaces of each blade are magnetized and coated with iron powder. If a blade has a crack, two distinct magnetic fields will appear in the gap of the crack, thereby attracting the iron powder. In this way, the location of the blade damage can be identified. This method is not suitable for all fans, so users must exercise particular caution. Penetrant testing is a more accurate method, but it is also more cumbersome. After wiping down the explosion-proof centrifugal fan with clean gauze, apply a white developing solution (mix 5 parts zinc white with 30 parts dice, diluted with 20 parts benzene and 50 parts acetone). This method may be difficult for some users, so they may opt for one of the other methods described above. Regardless of the method chosen, as long as the power can be detected, it can be used effectively.
