 Many forward-curved package fans have very similar names. Products with names like “forward-curved package fan” may appear to be the same, but they are actually completely different. So, what are the differences between them? Forward-curved packaged fans are made of high-quality steel plates that are folded into shape. Their main advantages include low operating speeds, compact or slim bearings, a wide operating range, and low cost. However, due to the relatively low structural strength of the blades, they have the disadvantage of being unable to operate at high speeds. Forward-curved packaged fans are primarily used for air intake, dust removal, and smoke exhaust. Their main advantages are high efficiency, low operating noise, and high airflow. However, they have high stability requirements, and performance may vary depending on changing operating conditions. Next, let’s analyze the differences between them. Difference 1: The static head required to overcome electrical and system resistance is lower for forward-curved fans than for backward-curved fans. Backward-curved fans have a gradually widening flow path, resulting in lower pressure losses than forward-curved fans; consequently, forward-curved fans have lower efficiency than backward-curved centrifugal fans. Difference 2: Power consumption. Since forward-curved fans have lower efficiency than backward-curved fans, they consume more power. Difference 3: Noise—forward-curved fans operate noisier than backward-curved fans.
