What is the difference between stainless steel fans and duct fans?

Fans encompass a broad definition with numerous types and unique functional characteristics. We often encounter stringent requirements for the aforementioned systems (mechanical smoke exhaust systems, stainless steel fans and exhaust fans, auxiliary fan systems, etc.). What distinguishes stainless steel fans from duct fans?


1. Stainless steel fans and duct fans operate differently:


Smoke exhaust fans primarily eliminate high-temperature fumes from smelting, cooking, and fires, creating breathable space for occupants. Duct fans mainly transport air to designated locations (such as stairwells in escape zones). Through high-pressure ventilation, they prevent smoke from spreading into these areas.


2. Stainless steel fans and duct fans differ in their application locations:


Stainless steel fans are primarily used in smoke exhaust ducts where fire hazards are high. Duct fans are mainly deployed in escape routes.


Fire smoke exhaust systems are primarily used in basements, large shopping malls, oversized fire zones, and extremely long corridors where natural smoke exhaust cannot meet requirements, necessitating mechanical smoke exhaust systems. Duct supply fans are primarily used in smoke-proof stairwells and shared lobbies, ensuring the pressure in these areas remains higher than in corridors and other public zones to prevent smoke ingress.


These two points clearly illustrate the fundamental distinction between stainless steel fans and duct fans.


Due to the fundamental differences between stainless steel fans and duct fans, stainless steel fans are typically installed at the terminal end of the ventilation system, while duct fans are installed at the front end of the ventilation system.


Duct ventilators, also known as positive pressure fans, create a pressure differential within a space. This differential can be either a permissible value or a pressure differential protection value. Standards for pressure differential protection values are not uniform, with most adopting 50 Pa as the standard value.
