Xin Feng Mini-Classroom -- How to Modify the External Air Intake Box of a Corrosion-Resistant Fan?


Most fans share similar efficiency with other architectures but differ in materials or components.

Corrosion-resistant fans are unique, primarily due to the plastic materials used in their construction.

The intake chambers of corrosion-resistant fans are made of plastic, offering advantages but also drawbacks. We need to find ways to modify their intake chambers. How can the intake chamber of a corrosion-resistant fan be modified?


From this area to the centrifugal impeller of the corrosion-resistant fan, all solid particles in the gas originate from the surrounding lining. A long guide rail is installed before the inlet of the corrosion-resistant fan's centrifugal impeller. Before the centrifugal impeller inlet, the equipment previously had a 200 mm diameter long guide rail.



Perforated conical filter assembly. Clothing and pants are installed at the management center of the air intake box, with a barrel-shaped bone cavity placed inside. The second result of the conical stainless steel filter screen is that large particles are already on the cylindrical side. A small amount of solid particles in the air intake of the air box are absorbed by the centrifugal impeller of the corrosion-resistant fan from the steam box.


The installation at the center of the corrosion-resistant fan's air intake box has been innovated, featuring a cylindrical structure with a single-sided filter mesh. How is the corrosion-resistant fan's air intake box modified? Leveraging the sector-shaped screen's functionality, particles within the tank core are expelled through the conical client-side bell-shaped convergence device, sifting purified air into the cylindrical hollow cavity. Under these conditions, particle concentration at the centrifugal fan inlet exerts minimal impact on both sides but significantly affects the surrounding area.


When the blades of the driven wheel and centrifugal impeller are at risk, the impeller blades may be crushed. Simultaneously, contaminated air drawn from the ventilation duct forms a laminar flow along the front section of the centrifugal impeller's disc, creating a protective cushion layer. This modification method utilizes such principles to optimize airflow at the centrifugal impeller inlet.


It employs a fan inlet box with a 200mm diameter cylindrical chamber. Solid particles are encapsulated within the cylindrical walls and conveyed to the corrosion-resistant fan.  A key advantage of this design is the ability to re-examine the deep suction channel outside the cylindrical cavity. By focusing on the corrosion-resistant fan's inlet, one can observe the contaminated air entering the centrifugal impeller. Corrosion-resistant fans are specifically designed for environments with corrosive vapors.


In such environments, non-corrosion-resistant fans suffer significantly reduced service life. Notably, frequent failures occur, severely impacting operational efficiency. However, corrosion concerns are eliminated with corrosion-resistant fans, which also play a critical role in organic waste gas treatment.


Depending on customer selection, impeller materials include polypropylene, PVC, fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP), and stainless steel.  For temperatures up to 60°C, standard models suffice.  At higher temperatures, use FRP or high-temperature epoxy-coated stainless steel fans.  These are suitable for transporting combustible gases after gas generator explosions.


Anti-corrosion fans play a secondary role in metal material wastewater treatment but cannot function as standalone equipment. They serve as processing machinery requiring human intervention to manage pressure and volume constraints, alongside ventilation systems, design specifications, and foreign direct investment (FDI) requirements for ballistic electronics. Selection criteria include corrosion resistance, operating pressure, and power output.
